Opened in 1929, Museum of Modern Art, often referred to as “Moma” is perhaps the cultural heart of New York City, exhibiting a collection of amazing works from 20th-century artists like Monet and Picasso, Cezanne, van Gogh, Gaugin and Seurat. The museum’s collection features more than 100,000 paintings, sculptures, drawings and other amazing pieces from modern artists, covering numerous genres such as Postimpressionism, Cubism, Dadaism, Surrealism, Mexican art of the 1930s and more. Other highlights include the museum’s 15,000-print Photography gallery, one of the greatest collections in the world. MOMA is also known for its film gallery, recently becoming known as one of the city's best venues to view classic and foreign films; as well as its rare architecture gallery. The Museum is located along Museum Row.
