Central Park was the first landscaped public park in the United States and is still a popular attraction for tourists and locals alike. The park was built in 1853 in the middle of Manhattan on over 700 acres of land.
Expect to find a myraid of things to do at attractions including: Central Park Wildlife Center (a zoo), Delacorte Theater (with summer performances of Shakespeare's plays), Strawberry Fields (a memorial to John Lennon) and the Wollman Memorial Rink (for ice sakting and rollerblading).
Look for the famous Delacorte Clock, with mechanical animals depicted on its face, located near the zoo. Also visit the Great Lawn with baseball fiels and picnic groves. A romantic hansom carriage ride makes a perfect end to an evening in the city.
