The Bronx Zoo has been entertaining and educating families since it opened in 1899. Today there are over 4000 animals housed in almost 300 acres. Animals are in well-maintained natural settings usually kept in place by a moat that allows for an unobstructed view.
The Zoo offers a Children's Zoo with a petting zoo and interactive programs. There are also monorails, cable cars and buses for those too weary to traverse the whole park on foot.
The zoo is located on the Bronx River Parkway and Fordham Road. For more information, please call (718) 652-8400.
Here are the time and pricing schedule: the zoo is open from 10:00 to 5:00 on weekdays (10:00 to 5:30 on weekends) during the April through October season. From November through March, the zoo is open daily from 10:00 until 4:30.
Pricing is as follows: April-October, Thursday through Tuesday, $6.75. November through March, Thursday through Tuesday, $3.00. All Wednesdays are free admission days, so expect the zoo to be pretty crowded. All tickets for the Children’s Zoo are $2.00, except for Wednesdays, when they are free.
